Tufting - Swiss manufactory since 1987
Hand tufted rugs stand for quality and individualization
As a manufactory, we specialize in the manufacturing technique: hand tufting. A technique in which each rug is created individually by hand. This allows the greatest flexibility - a flexibility that we are proud to pass on to you, as it allows us to customize each rug. To make your choice easier, we have structured our assortment into thematic collections that feature carefully crafted colorways.
In hand tufting, a wooden frame is covered with a backing fabric, where the yarn is then stitched into the fabric with a hand tufting machine. This is done row by row until a rug surface is created. This can result in high or flat and closed or cut loops. This means that hand tufting can be used to develop a wide range of different rug structures. The technique places high demands on the skill of the hand tufter. Since the machine is operated by hand, it takes a great deal of care and experience to finally produce an even surface that also bears the handwriting of each hand tufter.
Every rug that leaves our manufactory is made according to the customer's wishes: You decide on a rug model, choose one or more colors depending on the structure and determine the rug size.
After hand tufting, the finish is made. It receives a second backing, which ensures that the tufting loops are firmly anchored in the substrate. In a further step, the edges of the rug are created. Carrier fabric that extends beyond the actual rug edge is mitered at the corners, folded over and glued at the back. The result is a compact finish that is technically and aesthetically convincing. Precise cuts along the edge also give the pile a final polish. Finally, depending on the model, the rug is sheared.
